Vibrant Christmas village scene with snowmen, reindeer, and holiday lights in New York

New York Christmas Map 2026

Every holiday light, market, show and activity on one map

This is a working map of Christmas in New York City for the 2026 season. Every pin is a real place you can go: light displays, holiday markets, shows and seasonal activities across Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx, plus the big drive-through light shows just outside the city. Click any pin for dates, cost, address and a link to the official site.

Use the colored legend to tell categories apart. Red pins are lights, teal pins are markets, yellow pins are shows and green pins are activities. The numbered blue pins trace the Fifth Avenue windows walking route described below the map, which is the single best evening for a first-time visitor.

Dates on this page are updated as venues announce their 2026 schedules. Where an entry still shows last year's dates, it says so, and the linked official site is the place to confirm before you go.

On this map: 28 light displays · 26 holiday markets · 24 shows · 25 activities · 9-stop walking route

Christmas in New York by neighborhood

The pins cluster in a few areas, and it helps to plan an evening around one of them rather than crossing the city.

  • Midtown, Fifth Avenue and Rockefeller Center. The tree, the Saks light show, the Cartier bow, and the store windows from Macy's up to Bergdorf's. Walkable in one evening; see the route below.
  • Bryant Park and Herald Square. Winter Village opens October 23, 2026, weeks before anything else, with the holiday shops and a free-admission rink. Macy's windows and Santaland are four blocks south.
  • Dyker Heights, Brooklyn. The over-the-top residential lights from November 27 through late December. Free, outdoors, about 45 minutes from Midtown on the D train to 79th Street.
  • The Bronx. Two ticketed nights out: the Holiday Train Show at the New York Botanical Garden and Holiday Lights at the Bronx Zoo. Both typically open the week before Thanksgiving.
  • Downtown. The rink at Brookfield Place, the Seaport's tree, and the Union Square Holiday Market on the way back uptown.
  • Beyond the city. Drive-through shows at Jones Beach and PNC Bank Arts Center, plus Westchester's Winter Wonderland. Worth it if you have a car; not reachable by subway.

How to use this map

  • Zoom into Midtown for the Fifth Avenue cluster; the pins overlap at city scale.
  • Tap a pin, then use the website link in the popup to check hours before you go. Weekend evenings in December are the busiest hours for every stop on this map.
  • The full list under the map is the same data in text form, grouped by category, if you'd rather scan than click.
  • On a phone, the 'Open this route in Google Maps' link under the walking tour loads turn-by-turn walking directions for all nine stops.

Fifth Avenue Christmas windows walking tour

About 1.5 miles south to north, 60 to 90 minutes at a stroll with photo stops. Start after 4:30 pm so the lights are on by the time you reach Saks. Every stop is free.

  1. Macy's Herald Square holiday windows— 151 W 34th St (34th St & Broadway)
Start here. The 34th Street windows are the classic Miracle-on-34th-Street set piece. Santaland is inside on the 8th floor (free, timed reservation).
  2. Bank of America Winter Village at Bryant Park— 42nd St & 6th Ave
Walk up 6th Avenue. 170+ holiday shops, the free-admission ice rink, and the tree. Open from October 23, 2026.
  3. Saks Fifth Avenue light show and windows— 611 5th Ave (49th–50th St)
Cross to Fifth Avenue at 49th. The facade light show runs every few minutes after dark; the best view is from the Rockefeller Center side of the street.
  4. Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree— 45 Rockefeller Plaza (between 49th & 50th St)
Lit on Wednesday, December 2, 2026, and on display through mid-January 2027. Expect a queue on the plaza in the evening; the view from the Channel Gardens on Fifth Avenue is quicker.
  5. St. Patrick's Cathedral— 5th Ave & 50th St
Directly across Fifth Avenue from the tree. Free to enter; the crèche is up from early December.
  6. Cartier Mansion— 653 5th Ave (52nd St)
The whole building gets wrapped in a red bow with lights. Quick photo stop.
  7. Tiffany & Co. flagship— 727 5th Ave (57th St)
Window displays plus the facade. From here you can see the Plaza and the park.
  8. Bergdorf Goodman windows— 754 5th Ave (57th–58th St)
The most elaborate windows on the avenue, on both the 5th Avenue and 58th Street sides. Unveiled around mid-November.
  9. Pulitzer Fountain and The Plaza— 5th Ave & 59th St, Grand Army Plaza
End at the fountain and the Plaza's decorated entrance, with Central Park across the street. Wollman Rink is a 5-minute walk into the park.

Want to keep going? Bloomingdale's windows are two blocks east at 59th and Lexington, and Wollman Rink is just inside the park. If you only have one evening in New York in December, this is the one to do.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a printable NYC Christmas map?

Yes. The Fifth Avenue windows walking route above prints as a one-page list of stops with addresses: use the Print button or your browser's print command, and only the route prints. The interactive map itself works best on a phone, where each pin opens directions.

What is the best order to see the Midtown Christmas sights?

South to north: Macy's at 34th Street, Bryant Park at 42nd, then cross to Fifth Avenue for Saks and the Rockefeller tree at 49th–50th, and continue up Fifth to Cartier, Tiffany, Bergdorf Goodman and the Plaza at 59th. Walking north keeps the tree and the busiest windows in the middle of the route, after dark.

How far is Dyker Heights from Manhattan, and is it worth it?

About 45 minutes by subway from Midtown: D train to 79th Street or R train to 86th Street, then a short walk to 84th Street between 11th and 12th Avenues. It is free and genuinely spectacular from mid-December on. Go on a weeknight if you can; weekends are shoulder to shoulder.

When is the Rockefeller Center tree lit in 2026?

The lighting ceremony is Wednesday, December 2, 2026, the Wednesday after Thanksgiving, with the televised event running roughly 7 to 10 pm. The plaza is closed to casual visitors that evening, so plan to see the tree any other night. It stays lit daily through mid-January 2027.

Which NYC Christmas attractions are free?

Most of the map: the Rockefeller tree, the Saks light show, every store window on Fifth Avenue and at Macy's, Dyker Heights, Bryant Park's holiday shops and rink admission (skate rental is extra), the Union Square and Columbus Circle markets, and the trees at Grand Central and the Seaport. The ticketed ones are the Bronx Zoo and Botanical Garden light shows, the drive-through displays, the Rockettes and the ice rinks in Central Park.
